Counter-revolution

The Obama administration and most Democrats may be counting on a counter-revolution of passivity, people rallying around their neighbors for comfort and support. That leaves the aggressive revolutionaries free to set up their own rules acting out their genetic push for dominance. There is no reasoning with either group. Survival may mean playing both sides while running through the middle. The language of humanity may become irrelevent, and power to control others will determine philosophy. Nothing new under the sun, so choosing sides is a mistake.

Revolution

People seem to be choosing sides on a personal basis related to ambiguous political moves by both Democrats and Republicans. It looks like the beginning of something beyond the euphemism, "civil unrest." All the repressed fear and defensive anger is revealed in dialog. What is the next stage in the disintegration of our culture? We are not the kind of people who roll over like the Europeans and accept encroachment and socialist, progressive domination by self serving "leaders" acting on the assumptions of solipsism. What is next? The social and mental nihilists can gain notoriety with initially random violence.

Snow Storm in December

It's rare for us to get hit a glancing blow by a pre-winter Nor'easter. Four to six inches of snow here in Ohio is a big deal because of low anticipation for snow removal work. Still, lots of snowbirds drive down to South Carolina at the first hint of snow. We go to Hilton Head Island when possible. There is great path running down there and no need for cold weather gear.

The Dome

I'm looking forward to reading Stephen King's new novel. It will be delivered to my Kindle1 on Christmas Eve. I could have bought it at the book store earlier, but I want to read it on the electronic reader.

Fort Hood

I have to wonder about the screening process in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army. I was an enlisted Behavioral Science Specialist in a medical company in Germany during the Vietnam war. The psychiatrists and other MDs liked to play MASH, the TV version, instead of acting properly as officers in the Army

Amazon Vine Program

I really enjoy reviewing books sent by Amazon through the Vine Program. I receive advance copies of novels and review them for potential customers. I have read books that I would not have chosen to read in a bookstore or on Amazon. There are some very good contemporary authors, and I hope my reviews help to inform customers about the quality of the work.

Day of the Dead

The Day of the Dead is coming on Nov 1 and 2, children and adults. Sugar skulls with the names of the dead are made to welcome visits by deceased loved ones.
